Fake prophets and the burden of righteousness (lV)

0
The Bible gives a clear warning and account of fake prophets in the book of Matthew 7:15
“Beware of false prophets, which will come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly are ravening wolves”
Those false prophets will claim that they have knowledge of the happenings in the universe and that they can predict what God will do! Most times they also claim that they can change events and create a new life or a new destiny. At the beginning of the year, they come with some predictions of events that will occur during the year or even how the year will look. Oftentimes, they say things that are common knowledge and when it occurs they refer you to it when even a child could have prophesied it.
One question I do ask is why couldn’t these false prophets have seen the coming of Boko Haram? Why couldn’t they predict the taking away of our Chibok girls? Now that the girls are with Boko Haram, why can’t one of these prophets predict when the girls will come back if they truly know the future as they claim. Again only God knows the future!
One of the greatest predictions of the scientist and natural philosopher, Isaac Newton was that the world will come to an end in the year 2060! Of course he is not alive to witness that date and most of the older generations will not be alive to find out. However, the Creator is the only one that knows the end time. Not even the Angels in heaven have an idea as to when the end will come. The fact remains that science did not create the world and there is no way one can determine the end of what he did not create. The fact that science can predict the exact time a man that is dangerously sick will die does not mean a scientist can say the year that the entire world will end.
The Bible provides accounts of the events that will occur before the end time. The Bible did not give a precise time and date when the end will come. Those events are signals for preparations for the coming of Jesus. The assignment for Jesus is to come and take us to meet His Father who is also our Father, so that we can all be together to enjoy life after death where there will be no more sin.
Phony predictions of the end time are nothing new. For instance, William Miller predicted that the world will come to an end in 1843. That prediction is known as the Great Disappointment.
Jehovah’s Witnesses have had several chronological accounts of when the world will come to an end. They predicted at various times that the world would end in 1799, 1877, 1878, 1914, 1918, and 1925. It is left for me to remind Jehovah’s Witnesses of Proverbs 4:18, which says “The path of the righteous ones is like the bright light that is getting brighter and brighter until the day is firmly established.” Those days set out above when it was predicted that the world will come to an end came and went. And even if more of such is predicted tomorrow, the word of God will not change, for only God knows the future and the end time.
The Bible is clear about the coming of Jesus in the book of John 14:1-4. The Bible gives a detailed account as follows:
“Don’t be troubled: you trust God, now trust in me. There are many rooms in my Father’s home, if this were not so, I would tell you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, plainly when everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am”
See Bible passages with similar themes in (Matt 23:29 Luke 18:18 John 14:18, 28-29, Acts 1:11, 1 Corinthians 11:26, Philippians 4:5, Colossian 3:4, 1 Thessalonians 1:10, 2:19, 3:13, 5:25, 2 Thessalonians 2:8)
I have decided to do a separate work on the Armageddon and give a vivid account of the likely signs to be expected to herald the end time according to the Bible. The interesting thing in the upcoming work is the gravity of the occurrence of those events and the likelihood of the coming of Jesus in our time, but not a prediction of when the world will end.
The Bible gives the likely sign of the end time in Luke 21:32-33: “Truly I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all things take place. Heaven and earth will pass away but my words will not pass away.” Further, in the book of Matthew 24:44, Jesus said: “So you also must be ready, because the son of man will come at an hour when you do not expect him”
It is not unlikely that those that predict the exact time that the world will come to an end did not read the Bible or that they do not believe the work of the Creator, otherwise they would have realised that the day and time when the world will come to an end is a no-go area to man.
One popular Nigerian Bishop told me in 2008, at the start of the recession that the dollar will exchange for twenty naira! It was of course not just an optimistic prediction but a fabulous prediction rooted in fantasy! The Dollar is now exchanging for 171 Naira to the Dollar! When this prediction was made to me, I told the Bishop in question not to say it publicly for as the Lord lives, mathematical economics does not justify that prediction and it is clearly not from God. He took my advice not to say the exact amount the dollar will be exchanged for, but his sermon was still based on the prediction of a strong Naira. Today the reverse is the case and this was clearly a sham prediction.
A man of God had also predicted that the Boko Haram menace will end with the New Year 2014! The truth now is the fact that Boko Haram has attracted the attention of world leaders and our President is looking for one trillion Dollars to solve the problem. Bogus prophets, bogus predictions!!!
Sometime ago, one pastor told a close friend of mine that he would win the next governorship election in his state and that he was the next Governor, if only he could spend 30 days on the mountain fasting, which my friend did. He spent all his money, sold all his assets, only for him to return to Lagos, having scored a mere 254 votes!
