Ivie Edobor Arrived Court On Crutches (Photos)

Domestic violence victim, Ivie Edobor arrived the Magistrate Court, Surulere, on November 10th, where her estranged husband is on trial for assaulting her. The mother of three was brutally attacked by her husband, John Edobor last September, following their failed marriage.
Taking to her Facebook page after the trial, she thanked her friends, family and all who came to the court to show their support...

"Thank you all for you overwhelming support today at the court. So many people hadn't met me before or seen the level of my injuries and incapacitation. I pray for full recovery and the ability to walk again. My DPA family came in their numbers too. God bless you all"
Her lawyer and activist, Emeka Ugwuonye has this to say about the trial:
"First thing this morning, we were at the Magistrate Court, Surulere, to stand for Ivie Edobor. This is a case which means so much to DPA. It is a case where we need to take a clear stand to show that we oppose domestic violence in all its form.
Being a criminal trial, it was a case where I would play only a marginal role. But I wanted that marginal role to be definitive in impact. First move: I met with the Prosecutor to demand that the charge be amended to attempted murder, instead of assault, that is has been. Second, I demanded that steps be taken to stop the man from continuing to threaten Ivie. These two were accomplished. Charges will be amended and upgrade to attempted murder.
Next: my ultimate objective is to be allowed to take over the prosecution of the man. I want to conduct the prosecution so that I ensure he is convicted and sent to jail for life. We are working on that.
It was nice to see the brave Ivie Edobor in court today. She is strong in spirit, but obviously in serious pains from the injury the monster caused her. Initially when the case started, the man was laughing in the dock. But when he realized what was happening, that he was about to face serious charge of attempted murder, there was no smile on his face, but there was a big smile in my heart.

I was pleased to meet so many wonderful people - lawyers, other professionals and well-wishers, who came to court to show their solidarity."

Victim Of Domestic Violence, Ivie Edobor, Shares Her Story, Cries for justice As Lagos State Govt Upgrade Charges Against Banker Husband John Edobor

Ivie Edobor, a Mother of three, took to her Facebook wall to accuse her husband, John Edobor, of attacking her after they went they separated ways following their failed marriage. She wrote
Dear friend, To shed more light on my ordeal, this is my story. Two years ago my husband kick me out of his house along with my 3 daughters ages 9, 7 and 4. I was forced to move back to my father's house and struggled to provide for my 3 children as he completely neglected them and even took them of his medical insurance provided by his office Zenith Bank Plc.

After much struggle, I finally got back on my feet. Got a great job, enrolled my kids in a new school and rented an apartment for my 3 kids and I. About Easter time this year he decides he was to be part of my children's life again. I allowed him access to the children as I felt we could be civil to each other for the sake of our children. At this time I had started putting my documentation together for the divorce process.
Early hours of June 19th on my way back from a function, a friend had parked right in front of the gate of my apartment to press the bell for the gateman to open the gate and let me into the compound when suddenly he was rushed at and attacked by a man waving an object. The first impression was that it was an armed robber trying to rob us. My friend(a man) pushed he away but he came charging back; at this point I looked out the opened door and realized it was John Edobor my enstrange husband. Before we could react a group of area boys showed up but rather than saving us from the assailant, they joined him. The proceeded to be my friend on the floor giving John the opportunity to focus his attack on me. He used a metal bar(wheel spanner/ metal rod) to try hitting me on the head through the opened drivers door but I shielded it. Not satisfied with that, he turned to the passengers door dragged out to the floor. I landed on the floor with my legs extended where he proceeded to hit me on the leg continuously with the metal. When he was satisfied he was about going back to join the area boys who had gathered my friend when my neighbour who had heard my screams for help and seen from his window a man striking someone on the floor thinking it was an armed robber, numbed down his balcony with a machete to save whoever was being attacked. On getting down he was faced with my enstrange husband whom he had prevented from entering my compound without my permission on 2 occasions so he recognised him. It was at that point he overpowered John. The area boys recognised him as a member of the security team for the street and backed off my friend. By that time I couldn't stand up and my leg was bleeding profusely. I was rushed to the hospital where my jeans was torn off my leg to see the nature of my injury. The injury was so severe that my broken bone torn through my skin puncturing an artery in the process.
Almost 3months and 2 surgeries later, I have titanium plates and screws to keep my leg in place and I am unable to use my right leg. I still have my 3 children to care for and my life is at a stand still. The perpetuator was charged to court and released on bail 3 days later. Now he moves around freely carrying on with his life. Now is it wrong for me to cry for Justice.

Body Language Expert Reveals The Secrets Behind Trump And Obama's Meeting

President elect Donald Trump and Barack Obama met yesterday and vowed to work together in what appeared to be a friendly meeting at the White House.. However was not so nice as it appeared to be..As body language expert Patti Wood has analyzed the truth, and signs of the future duirng the first meeting between the most powerful man in America and the person chosen to replace him,

Trump said he was 'looking forward to dealing with the president in the future', while Obama claimed he was 'very encouraged by the interest in President-elect Trump to work with my team'.

Obama was 'extremely fatigued, resigned and not hopeful', while Trump was 'tentative, serious and perhaps fearful', Wood told DailyMail.com.

Obama and Trump, whose election win sent shockwaves around the world on Wednesday, talked for more than 90 minutes in the Oval Office before addressing the media.

It was a public display intended to help the country digest the results of Tuesday's presidential election after violent protests broke out across the country Wednesday night.

The president-elect called Obama a 'very good man'.

'If you look at the seating position - their lower legs,' Wood explains, 'they are both in the male, alpha position saying "I am a man".'

However, she adds that Obama's legs are much further apart, which demonstrates strength and reveals he is subconsciously saying, 'I'm still on top'.

But it was Trump's hands that caught Wood's attention - he put them in a 'downward prayer position'.
'The thing that is very significant is Trump's hand position,' Wood told DailyMail.com, describing it as the 'downward prayer position', which is not typical for the President-elect.

'Trump holds his own hands as he begins speaking which is an indication he needs to comfort himself,' she added.
Wood pointed out that as Obama gestures, he rests his arms on his legs. 'That's not typical Obama which tells me he is weary.'

The sitting president stressed during the meeting that his top priority was top 'ensure our president-elect is successful.'

'I have been very encouraged by the interest in President-elect Trump to work with my team around many of the issues that this great country faces and I believe that it is important for all regardless of party and regardless of political preferences to now come together, work together to deal with the many challenges we face,' he said.

But Wood isn't convinced. 'There is a part where he says he has been encouraged,' she said. 'As he says it he closes his eyes. I call that an eye block. That tells me he doesn't feel totally encouraged.'

Intrigues Of Mohammed Babangida Aftershock Of Second Marital Misadventure

Ex-wife, Rahma Indimi, accused of leaking damaging audio about Mohammed and second wife
The rabble of medieval English county families baying for broken glass pales in comparison with the rancour currently tearing at the heart of Mohammed Babangida, scion of former military president, Ibrahim Babangida dynasty.
Since his marriage with Rahma hit the rocks, he has known no peace. Having suffered the action and counteraction that projects the reciprocal struggle of discordant feelings in wedlock, Mohammed was devastated to see his marriage crash to the disharmony that resulted from his protracted marital blues with Rahma, the daughter of billionaire businessman, Mohammed Indimi. Although the sordid details of their relationship was an open secret in high society circles, Mohammed, his family and friends tried to keep the news as a closely guarded secret.
While Rahma struggled to come to terms with her untimely separation from her Mohammed, the son of Rtd. General Ibrahim Babangida rediscovered joy in the arms of his first love, Umma, leaving Rahma stuck with the pain and intrigues of their separation.
But just when the high society was beginning to accept the reality of his presumed blissful union with Umma, a damaging audio about Mohammed and his new bride, Umma, was reportedly leaked on the social media.
Rahama on her wedding day to Mohammed
It would be recalled that his estranged wife, Rahma, commented on the audio on her Instagram page thus:
“Woke up to this, a recording of Mo saying some nasty things about his current wife. I wonder what he has been saying about me when we were married. ,(not cool muha, not cool) may Allah protect us all from people like this. Ameen. #justsaying
The leaked audio reportedly indicated that Mohammed accused Umma, his second wife of sleeping around. However, few days after the audio started trending, and Rahma became associated with its leak, the heiress to Mohammed Indimi’s fortunes, issued a prompt response on Instagram. She said she wasn’t the one who leaked it and does not in any way support the action. Rahma posted her response on her Instagram page thus:
“It is rather unfortunate that people you confide in can just go through your phone and post such an embarrassing audio of you know who. It is no secret that we have been divorced and I did not hide it. He is the father of my children and I do respect him. The leakage of the audio was done in poor taste so people pls stop tagging me. I had nothing to do with it. someone thought it should be out there and I disagree. What goes on in his house is his Business and not mine.My advise is just watch what you say and to whom you say it to. I wish them nothing but happiness. I have done so in the past and I will continue to do so. May Allah help us and guide us. Ameen.”
While Rahma vehemently denies her alleged role as the mastermind of the audio leak and the resultant scandal, her ex-husband, Mohammed, is finding it increasingly hard to deal with the aftershock of his marital misadventures. Mohammed is clearly one of those grooms who, having gotten married, could not settle down to enjoy wedlock. His first marriage to Rahma was ravaged and broken by upheavals and despite hopes that he and his second wife, Umma, would survive the rigours and intrigues of celebrity marriage, they lost that loving feeling and the magic that imbues marriage with bliss.
Findings revealed that Umma was the first woman Mohammed ever fell in love with. Though he would later get married to Rahma, he didn’t stop thinking of Umma and how blissful his life would be, had he married her.
Thus when Mohammed announced, four years into his marriage with Rahma, that he would be taking a second wife, it was hardly surprising to his family and friends who knew he still held a torch for his first love, Umma. Mohammed’s decision was duly supported by his superrich family whose vast wealth and contacts had earned them a pride of place among the world’s privileged aristocrats. Being the heir apparent to the Babangida dynasty, the family left no stone unturned to ensure that the marriage was a grand affair.

On Sept 7th 2016, it was revealed that Mohammed Babangida was battling his ex-wife Rahama for custody of their two eldest kids. From court documents exclusively obtained, Mohammad initiated the custody battle by taking his ex-wife to a Sharia Court in Minna, Niger.

Accusations have however been going back and forth between both parties, with people close to Rahma alleging that Mohammed has been harrasing and threatening her, trying to seize custody of their kids. She has now re-confirmed this in a post shared via Instagram. She wrote:

It  would be recalled that after 2 children with Rahama,Mohammed took a second wife in the person of Umma Wali, his first love.
Rumour has it that his mum, late Maryam was opposed to that union hence he married Rahama.
Following his mum's demise,Mohammed wedded Umma and it also ended after a few years.
Umma
2 Lovely wives gone just like that.
Why can't love last?
Do people change down the line or do loving eyes fail to see the flaws at the onset?
Love ought to last forever.

Nigerian Gay Rights Activist Bisi Alimi, Weds His Caucasian Partner In London (Photos)

Nigerian Gay rights activist, Bisi Alimi yesterday walked down the aisle with his longtime lover, Anthony. Their wedding happened in London and had friends and family in attendance to celebrate with them.

Col. Abu Ali, The Boko Haram Nemesis Who Paid The Supreme Price For Fatherland [Photos+Video]

Muhammed Abu Ali is the name. You may have heard about him before: he is the officer who was granted accelerated promotion from rank of major to lieutenant-colonel in September 2015, for his courageous performance in a series of the army’s engagements with Boko Haram.
His elevation was first announced shortly after one of the army’s fiercest-ever battles with Boko Haram, in February 2015, culminating in the recapture of Baga from insurgents. But the official decoration was delayed until September when, after another monumental success — the capture of Gamboru-Ngala — Tukur Buratai, chief of army staff, visited the war front.
During that decoration, Buratai praised Ali for his “courage, bravery and exceptional performance in the fight against the Boko Haram terrorists”.
Tukur is not alone in his opinion; and it has now emerged that even soldiers, majority of whom have built an unwanted reputation for always criticising the army hierarchy, have tremendous respect for Ali’s professionalism.

PUREST GOLD FROM MIRY CLAY

For all of the army’s hardline public relations tactic, discontent is high among soldiers and officers DIRECTLY involved in the ‘Operation Lafiya Dole’ (peace by force) in Borno state. But as Ali’s example shows, good work and truth require no trumpet; they always find their way to the public.
During TheCable’s recent investigative trip to the theatre of war, the first mention of Ali came at a time a sergeant was complaining about the crude equipment and archaic manner with which the army was prosecuting the war.
“Yes, the problem is that the Nigerian army still has this archaic idea of fighting, relying more in the numerical strength of its troops rather than on equipment,” he had said.
Mohammad Abu Ali
Ali (right) receiving a commendation plaque from the chief of army staff, Tukur Buratai, a lt. gen., earlier in the year
“There is nowhere in the world, a civilised or modernised army, where they want to lose soldiers in large numbers again, and that is where you need these equipment.
“If you have good equipment, it will reduce the number of casualities on your side but if the weapons are not there and you want to use the number of your soldiers, then definitely you are going to suffer casualties.”
He then cited the example of the recapture of Baga, but he was quick to recognise Ali’s “brilliance” in its success — even though the original intention was not to praise the officer.
“In the case of tanks, what one tank can do, 200 soldiers cannot do it; 300 soldiers cannot do it if the tank is functional and serviceable,” he said.
“In the case Baga, when it was recaptured from Boko Haram, the officer who led that operation, Abu Ali, a major at the time, told the soldiers that they should not worry, that they should only do five percent of the job, that he was going to do 95% of the job with the tanks.
“And that was exactly what happened. He did most of the work with the tanks. He was a major at that time and his promotion after the operation was automatic because he performed very well. One smallish guy like that o.
“After they recaptured Baga, the soldiers were so happy that they raised him up, telling the president to elevate him to the status of colonel, not even lieutenant-colonel, because he really performed; he tried. Even recent operations in Sambisa Forest, he led some of them.”

RESPECTED BY SOLDIERS

Ali’s elevation was not just the decision of the chief of army staff or the rest of the army hierarchy; the soldiers fully supported it. According to a soldier who witnessed his “leadership qualities” in Baga, and two others who were with him in Sambisa, soldiers were generally “very happy for him”.
“He led us with the T-72 when we advanced to Monguno and Baga, and he collected those places,” he said.
According to Wikipedia, the T-72 is a Soviet second-generation main battle tank that entered production in 1971. About 20,000 T-72 tanks were built, making it one of the most widely produced post-World War II tanks, second only to the T-54/55 family.
There have been at least three upgrades to the tank, the most popular being in 1988 and 1995, although they are unavailable in Nigeria.
A second soldier who extolled Ali’s virtues said: “After he collected those places [Baga and Monguno] in 2015, they brought someone else to replace him and they took him to Sambisa area; we went with him to Sambisa.
“He is a brilliant fighter. When he began hanging his promotion emblem officially on September 9, we were together on that day and we were all very happy for him.”
A third soldier, who had spent time with him in Sambisa, went as far as touting him as a potential helmsman of the army: “The man is very active; very active. And he is a very calm and intelligent person. He doesn’t brag, he knows his job and he is very simple.
“He is a future chief of army staff, if I may say, but he has to be wary of the corruption that is the shortcoming of many good hands in the army.”

LIKE FATHER, LIKE SON

It is interesting to know that Muhammed Abu Ali is the son of Colonel Abu Ali, who was governor of Bauchi state from August 1990 to January 1992 during the military regime of Ibrahim Babangida.
At this rate, no one would want to bet against the younger Ali surpassing his father’s achievements. He is already a lieutenant-colonel and should he continue his anti-Boko Haram heriocs, it won’t be long before he earns another elevation to the status of colonel, which his father was before retiring.

Pacquiao reclaims WBO title for third time

Manny Pacquiao of the Philippines celebrates after beating Jessie Vargas with a unanimous decision to win the WBO welterweight championship at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas, Nevada on November 5, 2016. Photo: John GURZINSKI / AFP

Filipino southpaw Manny Pacquiao reclaimed the World Boxing Organization welterweight title for the third time with a unanimous decision victory over former champion Jesse Vargas in his comeback fight on Saturday.
The 37-year-old Pacquiao systematically dismantled the former welterweight champion despite Vargas’ size and reach advantage.
He used a short right-handed counterpunch to floor Vargas in the second round en route to a one-sided win in front of a crowd of 16,132 at the Thomas & Mack Center.
“I feel happy,” Pacquiao said. “I’m trying every round to knock him down but also not be careless.”Pacquiao, 59-6 with two drawn and 38 knockouts, showed he still has a lot left in the tank but he failed to get the knockout victory that has eluded him for the past seven years.
All three judges scored the bout for Pacquiao, two of them by 118-109 and the other by 114-113.
Pacquiao won the WBO title for the first time in 2010 when he beat Miguel Cotto. He lost it two years later to Timothy Bradley, then got it back by winning the rematch with Bradley in 2014.
He then lost it last year to the now-retired Floyd Mayweather, who had a front row seat for Saturday’s bout.
“Yes I invited him to come tonight,” Pacquiao said of Mayweather.
Asked if he wanted a rematch with Mayweather, Pacquiao said, “We will see.”
Pacquiao said he was retiring following his April 9 two-knockdown victory over Bradley in their third fight.
Pacquiao looked impressive in stopping Bradley, showing that he has recovered from a shoulder injury which hampered him in his mega fight against Mayweather in May 2015.
Pacquiao took seven months off to concentrate on his job as a newly elected politician in the Philippine Senate. After serving his first stint as a rookie senator, he says the fire was rekindled and the stage set for a return to boxing.
On Saturday, both fighters felt each other out as very few punches were thrown in the first round.
Pacquiao was quicker to size up his opponent as the Filipino learned early on that he could counter Vargas’ left jab with a right to the jaw.

– Stumbling backwards –

That’s what happened in the second round when Pacquiao connected on a right counterpunch that sent Vargas stumbling backwards and onto the canvas.
Pacquiao said he had to respect Vargas’ punching power.
“I’m very careful to go inside because I knew he would counter me. I felt I could do more but every round I tried to knock him out,” Pacquiao said.
Vargas started coming on in the middle rounds. His confidence grew after a strong sixth round which turned out to be one of the few times he was able to trade punches with Pacquiao.
He had a big smile on his face while walking back to his corner after the bell to end the eighth.
“Fighting Manny Pacquiao is like playing a very fast game of chess,” Vargas said. “You have to be alert at all times. He was very fast but I was able to get in a few counters.”
Las Vegas boxing fans showed their love for Pacquiao. Even with a hometown boxer in the ring, the crowd was chanting his name and cheering for Pacquiao to get the knockout.
The two fighters traded heavy blows in the eighth round as Vargas’ face started to show some of the damage from Pacquiao’s potent right hand.
